SQL Injections: The Future of Mass Hacking Campaigns

SQL injection attacks are evolving as one of the primary modes of transportation for malicious scripts that hackers insert into legitimate Web sites. According to recent events, this method is becoming very popular amongst the hacker elite, especially taking into consideration the number of sites they are able to exploit almost overnight.

Some of these victim sites include the United Nations and the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS. Typically they will use the Web site as a vehicle for distributing Trojans through encoded Java script that a SQL injection inserted into the Web site.

Google analytics, AdWords, and the ultimate SEO techniques

Search Engine Optimization has become a serious business in recent years. We've seen companies get burned for using the wrong people and by the time they find someone who truly will deliver what they promise, they are either gun-shy, or out of money. If you're not already using Google Analytics at this point, you could soon be left behind. Extending the free Analytics account Google gives you to use their service, AdWords is cool, but sometimes costly for heavily bidded keywords.

But let's say you have found the sweet spot on your SEO terms and have determined that the amount you pay Google per click is well worth it. When they click your link, what will they see? How long will they stay? Most importantly, do you at least get an inquiry? We've seen some horribly high bounce rates in the analytics of some web sites. This is where Innersync can help. When prospects click your links in the sponsored areas, you can specify what URL the person is directed to. This allows you to cater a specific message that is powerful, direct and maybe just enough to make the prospect stay a little while.

For example, if I type in "helium balloons" as my searh term, and I click a link that goes to a page where a person appears on the screen and says "if you're looking for helium baloons, you've come to the right place," I may just stay a minute.

Innersync couples its rich-media techniques with our reputable SEO partners to deliver a compelling message to those looking for say, helium balloons. See some of the search terms we've worked with below and decide for yourself if it's a simply powerful web experience.

Watch your Assets

Innersync adds value where you need it most. We help companies maximize their digital assets in a way that enriches current business processes and helps identify new processes where they're needed. While digital asset management is nothing new, it is perhaps a shift in the manner digital assets are being used that has fueled our recent initiatives. From document repositories on the company Intranet to complete image management and the sharing of ideas, companies want to leverage their assets in order to stay on top of their game. Tough competition is around every corner and the knowledge gained with each new experience is only as valuable as its accessibility to the organization and its constituents. Companies are building their own knowledge bases filled with proprietary information that make that company unique. Now, they need to efficiently connect that information to employees, business processes and ultimately, the customer. It is here Innersync has helped bridge a gap.

Consider the following people we have served:

-The progressive Architectural firm who has developed everything from a more productive workplace to a state-of-the-art intelligent building.

-The Ad agency or photographer who has tons of imagery and the need to keep it organized and highly accessible.

-The corporation who wants to arm its sales representatives with the tools they need for success.

-The university that wants to not only empower its faculty to easily manage areas of the website, but make them excited to do so.

Our list goes on, but the common theme I'll point out is quick, easy access to information and the empowerment to take action, today. The right amount of "tool" for each of these ideas comes in several Innersync flavors. Time-tested and improved daily, we have integrated some pretty ambitious solutions for companies that demand they move forward, fast.

For the architecture company, success is gained by the sharing of past projects, imagery of design styles, documented standards and codes, and the ability to reference each quickly and even share with colleagues. The Ad Agency or photographer might benefit from an intelligent database of imagery that allows precise searching of various metadata and the ability to share and access low, medium and high resolution images with the click of a button. The corporation will realize faster or increased sales when they can empower its sales teams to login and quickly assemble online presentation that are custom to unique prospects. Finally, the college or university website that allows a department head to update their area in a day rather than a week creates excitement among faculty looking to keep their area one notch ahead.

Innersync has implemented these very tools just as described. Our solutions are intuitive, reliable, secure and developed using the latest Internet technologies. In many cases our solutions leverage reputable tools such as Adobe Contribute rather then re-creating functionality that is already proven solid.

But perhaps the largest benefit in choosing Innersync is our ability to grasp the essence of what you do and build or implement intelligent tools that improve your processes, inspire your people and leverage the valuable assets that set you apart from your competition.

Just ask us how we can help make the web a better place.

What is the perfect web site?

What is the perfect web site? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but is the beholder one that likes to feed their ego or make the web site and company succeed? After a decade of designing web sites, you learn from your mistakes and you tend to ask yourself, "What is the reason of our existence?" Innersync has figured out what the perfect site is, and we know one size doesn't fit all. More and more, the web is becoming a communication tool and the more people hitting it, the better. So our view of the perfect website is one that looks great, doesn't compromise usability and is search engine friendly.

Five years ago, we didn't think much about search engines. Now, we know the search engine is our friend, and one you can count on. Since everyone is on the Internet now, why would we ignore the power of the search engine--only to fall into the sponsored listings, fighting over popular and sometimes expensive keywords? When Innersync is approached for designing a web site, it's clear to us that it needs to be found--organically first. Part of our strategic planning as we talk to a new prospect demands us to ask "Have you thought about placement in the search engines?"

When we designed our latest web site, we wanted the world to know we are out there, whether it is a student checking out work for inspiration or a prospect looking for a partner. Since we have deployed our web site, our analysis has proved the traffic has doubled and we've not paid a single sponsor.

If there is any moral to this story, it is that your offerings are only good to the ones who value it. However, if you can't be found in primary directories on the Internet, how will anyone find, let alone value, what you have to offer?

mySpace is theSpace to be

Everyone has heard of it. It's the one place on the net where you can have a terrible-looking web site and still be cool!

The fact is, everyone is one mySpace. It's not surprising that the big company names you know and love are all on it, but it is surprising that those sites still look horrible. This is mostly because of the way you "author" your mySpace website. It's our opinion that they could have worked out the process a little better. It's our best guess that they didn't because of the sweeping success that hit it all of a sudden. Today, everyone and their brother and sister are on mySpace.

What does this mean to you? What does it mean for companies?

It means, traffic to leverage. More and more companies are realizing that the very nature of how mySpace works means more traffic to pull back to the home site. The first goal is to get as many 'friends' as possible. The second goal is to get in everyone's 'top friends' list. By being someone's friend, your site is exposed to them and all the friends in their extended network. In the simplest terms, it means your site is just a click away from millions of people.

One client we work with not only pays us to design their mySpace site, but they pay another person just to login to it and make all the new friends possible. Then, they pull that traffic back to their site using giveaways, contests, and other viral marketing techniques. It's just one of those things that is hot today and thousands of companies want to leverage it. Burger King, Delta Airlines and all of your favorite musical artists are on mySpace. MySpace is the one place where you could toss messages back and forth directly with Willie Nelson, Tommy Chong or G. Love and Special Sauce.

Ask us today if there's any merit to testing the waters for you and let us help you leverage yourSpace today.

Podcasts anyone?

It seems now days, podcasts are becoming as familiar as the blog. Podcasts may not be for everyone, but they are effective where they're applicable. A podcast is basically an MP3. You record it using a microphone and then convert it into the necessary format.

Innersync has integrated blogs with podcasts so that the client can create their podcast, then attach it to a blog post. Wah-la. Now it's online and ready for subscribers to listen and download.
Where is the podcast applicable? It's not limited to the following:

- If your company participates in forums, speaks at trade shows, gives speeches and lectures, you might provide those as podcasts on your site
- Books online
- Training sessions
- Amature "talk radio"

These of course are just some examples. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination. Now that you have your podcasts up, people could subscribe and be notified each time you put a new one up. If you put one up at regular intervals, people can schedule their computers to go out and download the latest podcast from your site.

It's new, but it's not revolutionary. It's the delivery that makes it exciting and you can thank the modern-day Internet as bandwidth becomes cheaper and more people go high-speed. So, will people provide podcasts simply because they can? Probably--but we'd take this over spam epidemics, virus-mania and hackers-a-plenty.

Professional or stock photography?

Well... compelling or not?

One topic that comes up with many website projects we work on is photography. The client considers, "Should we have professional photography shot or should we live with the stock photography that is available?" Or even worse, "I thought I saw a good image on Jane's computer."

We always counter with, "Do you want your website to speak to your audience? Do you want it to convince them, and perhaps even move them into action?" We believe custom photography is essential to the success of what you are paying us to deliver to you. Notice I say 'custom,' because you don't necessarily need professional photography if you have the 'right' photography. However, this is usually not the case so it needs to be shot. Let's hire a professional.

The first two people to be cut to save money on a website project are the photographer and the writer. These people are the unsung heroes that make it all come together. Innersync prides itself in delivering cutting-edge productions, but we need all the best pieces to bring it to fruition. Help us help you. The next time you think about a site redesign, think about taking it to the next level. Think about dotting the I's and crossing the T's. Budget the money to do it right the first time and you'll be thanking yourself over and over as inquiries pour in.
